About NRP
NRP is the AAP/AHA standard for newborn resuscitation, required for staff who attend deliveries or care for newborns. NRP is structured differently from ACLS/PALS: you complete the curriculum and exam online through the AAP’s NRP Learning Platform, then come in for the required hands-on Megacode assessment and simulation.
How NRP certification works
NRP has two required parts:
Part 1: Online (done first, before booking us)
- Go to the NRP Learning Platform (run by the AAP, not by us)
- Purchase the NRP Provider Online Examination ($55, pricing set by AAP)
- Work through the curriculum modules and pass the online exam
- Download or save your completion certificate. You’ll need it
Part 2: In-Person Megacode (with us)
- Book the NRP Megacode session below ($160)
- Bring your online completion certificate
- Complete the Integrated Skills Station and the Simulation/Megacode with your instructor
- Get your NRP Provider eCard
Who needs NRP
NRP is required for any clinician present at deliveries or in the care of newborns in the first hours of life:
- Labor & Delivery RNs
- NICU and special care nursery RNs
- Mother/Baby and postpartum nurses
- Neonatologists, pediatricians who do newborn care
- Family medicine physicians who attend deliveries

- Pediatric and neonatal transport teams
- Respiratory therapists assigned to L&D or NICU
- Midwives
What’s covered in the in-person Megacode
The online portion covers the cognitive content. The in-person session focuses on the hands-on skills and team performance:

- Positive-pressure ventilation (PPV) and effective ventilation troubleshooting (MR. SOPA)
- Chest compressions in the newborn (3:1 ratio)
- Endotracheal intubation and airway management
- Umbilical venous catheter (UVC) access
- Medications: epinephrine dosing and administration
- Communication and team dynamics in newborn resuscitation
- Full simulation/Megacode scenario performed as team leader

FAQ
Why is the online part on a different website? The American Academy of Pediatrics owns the NRP curriculum and sells the exam directly through their learning platform. Every NRP provider in the country goes through that same online portal; we can’t sell or change the online portion. We’re the in-person Megacode side.
What if my online certificate is more than 2 years old? You’ll need to retake the online examination before the in-person Megacode. The AAP requires both within the same renewal cycle.
Do you offer on-site NRP for our birth center, OB practice, or midwifery group? Yes. On-site NRP Megacode is hard to find in Las Vegas outside hospital settings, so this is one of the things we do most. Within 25 miles of Las Vegas, minimum 4 students. Each student still completes the AAP online examination on their own time first. See On-Site Training.
Can I do the Megacode before the online? No. You must complete and pass the online examination first and bring your completion certificate to the in-person session.
Cancellation? 24+ hours = full refund. <24 hours = 50% credit. See cancellation policy.
